Sometimes, ‘peculiar’ workplaces are hidden by large, glazed facades of office buildings: they are the so called hybrid in today’s jargon.
The new branch office of Skechers Italia in Rome houses both the offices and a large showroom, where the latest products are displayed.
However, this display has not been designed for retail buyers, but rather for wholesalers from central and southern Italy.
Skechers has a worldwide unified aesthetic quality in all its shops, which is a characteristic of many international brands.
Despite that, our project, set in this specific spatial context, has been the source of design suggestions which enhanced the uniqueness of this space.
For example, a custom-made long bar counter optimises a passage area, allowing customers' refreshment needs to be better managed. In addition, thanks to its 4.20-metres length, the bar counter provides seating and counter tops suitable for informal meetings with clients.
Orange-coloured lamps and seating catch the eye and personalise the entire break area.
The showroom develops along the walls of a large open-space characterised by large light wood panelling that serves as a backdrop and frame for the hundreds of shoes on display.
The lighting system consists of spotlights on rails, which follow and support the display. Some tables with a stone-effect finish - centred in the room - seem to emerge from the dark-coloured floor, contrasting strongly with the white ceilings and walls.
The graphics also develop a dynamic and interesting visual identity, thanks to the presence of numerous well-positioned backlit advertising panels, as well as the well-known Company Logo, which stands out in several places above the shoes on display.
