Counter-current offices

Location: Rome
Area: 400 Smq
Cliente: Asset Management Company
Project time: 2018 – 2019

Designing an office building requires bringing together and harmonizing different functions that require their own specific spaces. The heart of an office is undoubtedly the workspaces, which can be divided into various types: open spaces, individual rooms, or modular. Meeting and conference rooms are also very important; the unique feature of this project was the creation of a movable partition that allowed the meeting room to be sized according to the number of users.
The offices in the Prati neighborhood are what we might call “countercurrent” compared to contemporary distribution patterns, characterized by increasingly large and complex “open-plan” spaces.

The 400 square meters of the project are intended to house the headquarters of a savings bank. The planned work will include welcoming members, organizing biannual and annual conferences, and performing normal daily business activities.

Based on this, a reception area with a welcome desk for staff and a waiting room furnished with leather sofas and wooden tables was created at the office entrance.

For security and crowd management reasons, a large 50-seat conference room was set up near the entrance. This can be further expanded with a four-meter movable wall that physically and acoustically separates the conference room from the adjacent 12-seat meeting room, allowing for the simultaneous configuration of different functions.

But the offices are the real highlight of this project: organized into individual rooms, these offices are extremely quiet and comfortable spaces, divided by fitted walls and floor-to-ceiling glass surfaces.

Each professional is enveloped in magnificent honey-colored wood paneling, crafted and installed by expert craftsmen on a modular aluminum framework. The profiles framing the glass panels that allow the offices to overlook the shared corridor that runs through the entire office are also made of aluminum.

This corridor leads to the bathrooms, where wood-effect stoneware and white marble-effect tiles meet on the floor and rise together toward the ceiling, creating a fresh and appealing look.

The end result is a meticulously curated office,  from the spatial organization to the choice of finishes. A lighting design that meets both work requirements and creates a prestigious atmosphere was a must: the ceiling and pendant lamps, functional for work, are complemented by recessed lamps for elegant accent lighting.
